City Festivals and Events
In Uruma City, various festivals and events are held throughout the year.
The largest festival is Uruma City Festival in October, featuring performing arts, bullfighting, live concerts and a full schedule of noteworthy entertainment.
Many other colorful festivals and events spanning a wide area of interests including sports, culture, fine arts, and industry are also held, such as the Ayahashi Road Race through the Sea Tournament in April, in which a road race takes place along the "Road through the Sea", local Hari (Dragon Boat) competitions in June, the Uruma City Eisa Festival in the month of July according to the lunar calendar, the All Okinawa Shishi-mai (Lion Dance) Festival in September, the Uruma City Industrial Fair in December, as well as the Spring Art Festival in January.
In addition, the All Okinawa Bullfighting Tournaments where the top fighting bull in Okinawa is determined are held in May and November under the sponsorship of the Okinawa Prefecture Bullfighting Federation.
